A magna cum laude graduate of Indiana University School of Law, Mr. Powell has 25 years of experience as an attorney, sales professional, and financial planner with some of the top financial services organizations in the country. At Northwestern Mutual he wrote and edited the company's popular Advanced Planning Letter as well as many other technical and customer communications. He participated in the design, development and delivery of the company’s nationally-known Advanced Planning seminars that provided CE credit to agents, attorneys, and accountants. After leaving Northwestern Mutual, he served as Managing Director of Personal Financial Planning for KPMG Peat Marwick in its Charlotte , NC office.

Mr. Powell is the author of many articles, training programs, and several text books including Financing Long-Term Care Needs; Exploring Options and Reaching Solutions and POPs, FSAs, HRAs and HSAs. For ten years he was a featured speaker for the American Bar Association’s CE program on Tax Planning with Life Insurance and was three times selected as a presenter at the national conference of financial advisors on various financial and estate planning topics.

Our other principal is Mary K. Wilson. Ms. Wilson  has a MS in adult education. MKW.jpgShe has extensive experience in training needs analysis, design and evaluation. She has also developed numerous courses in Financial Services and Human Resources. Prior to joining our firm, she was a Vice President on the Learning Design Team for First Union National Bank (now Wachovia Bank). In that role, Ms. Wilson managed a team dedicated to training needs analysis, design and evaluation.

Prior to joining First Union, Ms. Wilson worked for the Principal Financial Group and Northwestern Mutual Life.
